There are currently a few
active pet sitting/pet professional scams.
All are variations of the very common
"cashiers check" scam. The basic scam
involves someone needing help of some sort
from the scam-ee. The scammer sends a
cashiers check or money order for an
amount in excess of the charge for
services. The scam-ee receives the check,
cashes it and is then instructed to mail
the excess to another individual. (An
uncle, a son, a vet, etc.) The check is
bad and the scam-ee is now out the entire
amount of the cashed check.
Below are the active scams directed at
animal lovers and pet professionals and
their particulars.
If you receive a different version of this
or any other scam please forward it to

professionals can be aware of any new
developments.

Pet Receiving Services
Needed
|
In Oct. 2005 a
professional pet sitter received e-mail
inquiries about pet receiving, training,
and boarding services from a woman named
"Angela". She claims
to be living in Australia and is looking
for help receiving a pair of dogs from
Canada which are to be trained and held
until the new owners move into the area.
The pet professional will receive a
cashiers check or money order in excess of
the fees to cover the care/training of the
dogs. The extra is to be sent to the "vet"
in Canada to cover the cost of the dogs
and shipping. The twist in this version of
the scam is the scammers have become
sophisticated enough to look up a property
for sale in the area and will give the
address in the e-mail to appear more
legit.
Sounds easy enough right?
WRONG! This is a common scam designed to
steal your hard earned money! The sitter
deposits the check and mails the extra to
the vet. Then that's the last they hear
from the scammer. Nobody sends dogs.
Eventually the sitter is informed that the
check they deposited is a fake.
Below is a series of
e-mails recently received by Professional
Pet Sitters, but it could be modified to
apply to any pet care provider. If you
receive a similar e-mail ignore it &
delete it. If you have received a
different version of this Pet Care Inquiry
Scam, please forward it to US
Pet Pros to be
included on this page.

usually with questions...

3months, all
what am intending to type is 3weeks just
for us to find our way to the
united state, and besides, you wont be
spending you money at because

the money that will cover all
the expeses will be sent to you. Pls let

not clear and also enlighten me on any
area that you are getting confused.

Third
Contact:
i went throgh the mail and then see the
reason why you respond like this, there is
an assignment that will be given to you if
you know that you can be capable enough to
do this job for me, the explanation is as
follow.
I am sure that you able to
carry out this task, and without any
waiste of time, I will be very happy if
you can get a kennel for me pending the
time of our arrival and let me have the
cost. And if you can do this and still
have the interest in being our pet sitter,
you should try and work this out and every
cost will be beared.
Remember that i mention
this in my first mail that my husband had
deposited for 2 Dogs named Siri and Levi
in Canada from a vetenary doctor called Dr
Smith Baker, We just need to balance the
money for the Dogs which include shipping
charges, and Basic Personal Protection
Training that the vet is giving our pet
this time pending the time, the cost for
this - $2,400.00 for the two dogs, $1,200
each, excluding shipping fees.
Once you have agreed to
handle this for us, I want you to send me
your full name and your contact address,
and your phone number, cos there is an
assignment for you, this assignment is
what can delay the shipping of the the
Dogs and some other thing that Dr. Smith
suppose to get for us and sending
oshipping of the Dogs from Canada. If
distance wants to be an hinderance in this
job, we dont mind to provide you a car out
of the 3 cars we having to make everything
easy for you.
so Dr. Smith is waiting
for the shipping fee for the shipper and
his balance before they can ship them, and
there is a client of my husband in an
INSURANCE COMPANY in USA WHICH is
responsible for all of our traveling
expenses, they have agreed to pay the
shipper the shipping fee so via cashier
cheque or money order, so if you are
taking up the position, the issue is that
you have to do something on our behalf as
your first assignment and we would pay you
for it, this will hasting our coming and
to make everything work effectively, I
will instruct the INSURANCE COMPANY to
issue the payment to you. So you see, you
will just have to cash the money, that is
meant to be sent to the shipper of our
Dogs and Dr Smith's balance in Canada,
although the money was suppose to be sent
to the shipper directly but the shipper is
not in usa and my husband that could have
been of help to cash it by himself is
currently in Belgium now so you will have
to take up this assignment , I have
already talked with my husband concerning
you that you are capable of doing it, so
you have to proof me right in his sight by
been honest and he said he would talk with
his INSURANCE COMPANY in usa to issue you
THE FUNDS and you cash it and send the
money and send to Dr. Smith his money and
for the shipping, so the payment is going
to be from his revenue that they generate
for him every month and its going to be
via cashier cheque, so your full name and
address, would be needed and your phone
number but you would have to be honest
because he said that the amount that this
insurance company is going to pay out is
$8,950 so You should take $1,000 for
neccessary arrangement that you have to do
on the Dogs, and for any other thing you
might need to put in places before our
arrival, the whole money to be sent is
$7950.so use $1000 for all your processing
and send the rest of his money through
Money Gram, you should search for money
gram outlet near to your area and send the
rest of the money which is $7,950 to Dr
Smith in Canada and for some dog food Dogs
stuff pls send the rest of the money
immediately because my husband is strict
about his money and he does not play with
his founds at all . So you would go on
with the processing with that $1000 usd,
and if you now need more money, then he
will send it to you again, that one is
like your own benefit of helping us to do
the assignment. so your full contact name
and address and phone number is needed for
the cashier cheque to be written in your
name and get to your hand and in case of
you not having a bank account to deposit
the money order or cashier cheque, then
maybe you should try and get someone who
you trust that can help you cash the money
and send the person's name and contact
address and phone number alone and the
client would issue it to what ever name
you send to me but just be sure of the
person that you trust person. You can
contact my husband Bob Maxwell.
provide everything i ask
in time, okay, so answer without wasting
of time (provided you want speak with my
husband) You can call my husband on this
number to talk better +44 703-199-xxxx or
+44-703193-xxxx OR CALL HIM to his
saterlite mobile phone which is
234-805-xxx-xxxx Just dial it like
that
Max is his name he knows
you, so feel free to talk and ask any
question, the best time to call him is 5pm
your time ask him any questions you want
to ask him.
Thanks,
